Hi! I am stumped -- for my TESOL class, I need to present a writing technique, preferably using technology. I.e., I should use a laptop (w/data projector) to demonstrate a technique to teach writing to an ESL class.

For some reason, I am completely blocked. (I don't mind writing on my own, but this is my weak point in teaching because I don't have a process as such, besides outlining and drafting.)

Can someone perhaps give me some ideas? I envision doing small group work on brainstorming, organizing, etc, after presenting the technique using a technology (i.e. a website or PPT)...

Thank you in advance!

What level are they?

What level are they?

Intermediate level students at an American university...

If anyone could recommend a website with ideas, I'd appreciate that, too.. I've read our assigned book, Teaching ESL Composition, Ferris & Hedgcock (2005), but perhaps seeing something visual would help it sink in better. The tricky part for me is coming up with something to demonstrate in-class (not a Wiki, Blog, or Google Doc that students work on individually using a personal computer). Hope that makes sense..

Thanks again for helping :)

Summarizing activities?

Thank you so much Tdol. I will bookmark those for future stimulus prompts (the Flash movies were educational and thought-provoking -- thank you!) and PPT tips..

After seeing my classmates' demos yesterday, though, I have refined my activity a bit more but still am not sure.. I now think I want to do a Summarizing activity (but someone already did "Tell a friend" and note-taking from oral input, so I can't do those).

So I'm currently on the hunt for other summarizing activities... Any ideas? :-?
