What what would you say " Render the text given below"

OR

"Retell the text given below"

If both are accaptable, what option would you use?

In what sense do you mean render? If render is used to mean translate, it would havt to read render the text into English (or another language.)

After you read it/had read(British might think is more appropriate) you try to deliver the meaning of a text to somebody else.

In that case, I would say interpret or explain.

It's not about translation. It's more like " to deliver the meaning of a text when using your own words"

Yes. You´ve just given us a definition of interpret. Either interpret or explain could be used in this sentence.

Yes but it' s when you have two texts written in two different languages.
Imagine you're having a class and your teacher wants you to read the text and deliver the meaning of it to other classmates.

Please refer to the first thread in this forum posted by RonBee on 30 June 2008, titled "Look it up!" You can find there numerous resources which will help you clarify the definition of interpret.
