In a news conference after the G20 summit, Obama said, "Instead of hitting home runs sometimes we're gonna hit singles. But they're really important singles". Could you given a hint as to what that means? Thanks.

Both are terms from batting in baseball. A home run is a big hit, while a single is a smaller hit, but it is still good for the batter.

Hit home runs: achieve success quickly.
Hit singles: achieve success more slowly and gradually.
