instead of

I had my fingers caught between the train doors.

"caught" strongly suggests that you can't remove your fingers from between the doors. "sandwiched" doesn't suggest that to me.

I think it depends on exactly what you are trying to say. Are you speaking about the position of your fingers in regard to the door (in which case 'sandwiched' is fine), or about your fingers being stuck (in which case 'caught' would better describe the situation)?
