Hello teachers
I have a question about where to put adjectives in a participial construction.
For example,
"Walking across the street, he was almost hit by a car."
Suppose I want to put "very slowly" in the sentence to modify "walking".
My grammar book tells me that it would be
"Walking across the street very slowly, he was almost hit by a car. "
But could I put "very slowly" at the top of the sentence?
"Very slowly walking across the street, he was almost hit by a car."
If I'm just adding "slowly" at the top of the sentence, it semms OK, but
I wasn't sure about putting "very" at the top of the sentence with it.
It would be greatly appreciated if I could get some kind of response
