Which are correct:

1-Those who build this house were greater than ten in number.
2-More than ten people built this house.
3-There were more than ten people who built this house.
4-There were more than ten people who participated in building this house.

Gratefully,
Navi.

They are all correct grammatically, except #1 which needs to say "built."

#1 is not very natural. #2 is more wordy that it needs to be.

Thank you very much SoothingDave.

Could 2 be less wordy? I don't see how. It is the shortest sentence of them all.

Gratefully,
Navi.
