Dear Teachers

I am just curious. I would like to know, in your opinion, which IELTS band does Bruce Lee's spoken English (in the following interview) belongs to.

Please advise.

Hello, patran.:-D
I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly, but he speaks in his own unique way, in my opinion.
He certainly was a great actor. Thank you for the link. I've really enjoyed them.

"Don't think. Feel."
:-D

Thank you for the 'descriptors', 5jj.:-D
Now I understand patran's question.
Hmm... I don't know. I'm not entitled to do this, but... maybe 7?

(He speaks more naturally than I do, by the way!)

I'd give him nines and eights.

Hi Konungursvia,

Do you think Bruce Lee speak "Successful" as "sʌkˈsesfəl" in 1:21 as many native speakers would say "səkˈsesfəl"?
Would you consider it is an incorrect pronunciation?

So he said "sʌkˈsesfəl" or "səkˈsesfəl" ?

In my opinion, even he has some not-so-native proununciation, he is still good. Especially back in 1960's, not many people in Hong Kong can speak English. And, he is not just a muscle head, he is a philospher. No wonder so many men in Hong Kong admire him so much at that time!

Yes, 8 or 9. Though he might lose marks for saying 'man' too much. Interesting interview. Thanks

He's good, and the grade is not based simply on pronunciation. He speaks very fluently and naturally with an accent. NorwichEnglish is right about him saying man too much, though. He's an 8 or 9- he can give an interview and be interesting, getting his point across well, with natural hesitations and moves. The interviewer treats him as a native speaker, making no concessions or efforts to assist him because he doesn't have to.

Dear Tdol, thanks for your commnt. When you say Bruce Lee speaks with an accent, is it something good or bad? Please advise.
