I need to put adverbials in fronted position.

a/Tom was running to the shop.
b/The dog barked and then it lay on the sofa.

my version:

a/The the shop, Tom was running. ; is it correct?

and I have no guess on the b.

pls help.

Is this homework?

NOT A TEACHER

a/ To the shop was running Tom.
b/ The dog barked and then on the sofa it lay.

a/ To the shop was running Tom.
b/ The dog barked and then on the sofa it lay.
Both of these are very unnatural indeed.

I need to put adverbials in fronted position. Why?

a/Tom was running to the shop.
b/The dog barked and then it lay on the sofa.

Why have you chosen these two sentences — neither of which lends itself to having its adverbials fronted?
