Is it correct to say:"In case it should rain" or "should it rain" ?

Would it be more correct to say : "If it rained"?
Thankyou!

Should it rain, we will move the party indoors.
I've brought my umbrella in case it rains.

They work for the first of Barb's sentences, but not for the second.

In case of rain / if it rains / should it rain, we will move the party indoors.
I've brought my umbrella in case it rains.
I put up my umbrella if it rains.

I took my umbrella in case it rained. This sentence can't really be constructed using "Should".

I don't agree with you on that one. I wouldn't use 'should' myself, but I think it's acceptable. There are quite a few COCA citations for similar sentences.

Would you use "I took my umbrella in case it should rain"?
