'as of the time of'

Hi All,

I want to ask if it is okay for me to write 'As of the time of writing this report, I have finished ...'? Is it okay to say 'as of the time of doing something'?

I see nothing wrong with the grammar, but it is a bit wordy.
 
"At the time" conveys the same message with fewer words.
 
There are no necessary "as of" constructions in English. Many are ambiguous; most are pointless.
* "As of yet, I haven't finished."
"I haven't finished yet."
"As of 2pm" can mean "At 2pm, since 2pm, or up until 2pm". I've never encountered a need to use "as of", at least as of yet.

Moreover, 'as of yet' (wash my mouth out with soap and water ;-)) gets a bad name for the sometimes useful 'as yet'.

"At this particular juncture in time" is a good way to say "now" in 6 words. ;-)
 
Thanks for all the responses to my question. I had always thought 'as of' is a popular phrase in English, yet it seems that I was wrong.
