Hello, people of the English world!

I´ve posted a similar thread, but, now, I´d like to ask you: how do you pronounce wealth and all that? How do you link l and th? Do you link it the same way in both cases?

Thank you!
;-)

I'm no expert in phonetics, but I'd say that they are not linked the same way, mainly because "th" represents two different sounds: /θ/ in "wealth"; /ð/ in "that".

Hello, Carolina1983.

I'm not "a person of the English world" but I hope this would help you a bit.
Alan Cruttenden says in "Gimson's Pronunciation of English":

The actual point of contact of the tongue for [ɫ] is conditioned by the place of articulation of the
following consonant; thus, in health, will they, the [ɫ] has a dental contact...

So wealth and all that can be pronounced [wɛɫ̪θ] and [ɔːɫ̪ðæt] respectively ([ ̪ ] means "dental").

Hi there! All of us who try to learn this language are people of the English world! ;-) Thank you, N Senbei, you helped a lot!
