On the other hand, this could be the start of an entirely new English expression. "Shiver the notion" rolls off the tongue very easily, and brings to mind some likely scenarios:

He drew a large, rusty cutlass from his belt, and ran a finger lovingly along the pitted edge. "Shiver the notion that they lay a finger on 'ee while Long John still has one leg to stand on".....
"For shame, Mr Darcy! Shiver the notion that I could possibly entertain the slightest affection for you" cried Elizabeth, as she fled from the gazebo, contriving to drop her kerchief in the process...
