Hi guys,

Is it right to say "I would do this rather than doing that" ?

Not really... It would be correct to say, "I would rather do this than doing that." ;)

I have no preference over the positioning of "rather" but I don't like the mix of "do" and "doing".

I would rather do this than [do] that.
I would rather be XXXing than XXXing.

I would do XXX rather than [do] XXX.

But is it offensive to mix do or doing.

That would not be correct. It would be like saying 'I would rather sing than dancing', which is clearly wrong.

Please state that you are not a teacher at the head of each post, in accordance with the forum rules. Your username is giving students the mistaken impression that you are representing an academic institution.
