Hi everyone. I'm from Ukraine, and studying to be an interpreter. The best practice for such profession is reading books and watching movies in original language (in my case - English). Recently, in some movie (don't remember its title) I've heard the following phrase:
- Yeah, she was all over me.
- Dude, you dog.

What does it mean? I mean the second phrase? Obviously it is an idiom. Last few days I have been thinking of it and already have some guesses, but the best option is to ask about it those, who speaks English every day.

- Yeah, she was really interested in being physically intimate with me.
- My friend, you are truly attractive to the ladies and seem to enjoy it.

not a teacher

"…, you dog."
As Barb says, I think it could be described as a rough compliment concerning another male's apparent sexual appeal or success.
It might also imply that the person's conduct is devious or sly in some way. We would need to know more context.

She was all over me = she was touching me

Dude, you dog! = you made out pretty well (She's got the hots for you.)

Use your imagination!

:-D

My imagination has been in a coma for a week. Exams are close. :)

It's interesting that you say you want to know the exact meaning of those phrases. Let's just say that there are two ways for a man to like a woman. He can like her (meaning he has affection for her -- perhaps in a sisterly way). On the other hand, he might like her (meaning that he is physically attracted to her). And if a woman pays attention to a man by giving him exactly what he would like to get from her he is going to be pretty happy about that. As for the phrases you posted on this thread, while they are slangy, they have also been around for a long time. (Might I also direct your attention to the expression You lucky dog?)

Then there's the American expression Men are dogs. (Always spoken by a woman.) It probably got started because some of us bark a lot.

;-)

Then there is, of course, the possibility that a man will feel deep affection for a woman and also be physically attracted to her. In that case you want to do your best to hold onto her.

A better title for this thread would have been:

She was all over me

or

Dude, you dog!

:)
