Hey,
I came across this sentence and I couldn't understand what it ment:

Then they blocked off a week to give my "dilapidated and boring" house some "much needed charm".

What's 'blocked off' mean in this case?
I looked it up (obstruct access to) but still not sure I understand what the writer wanted to say.

Is it: blocked off a week.. As in they physically blocked a chunk of the home for passage..

or (this one I didn't read in any dictionary)
Is it: they earmarked a week...
(which to me makes more sense).

thank you

Your final guess is correct. They reserved a week on their calendar to work on the house.
