Good evening.
Does the sentence If you were to come.../were you to come... mean if you happen to come?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum, ronao.:-D

[STRIKE]Good evening[/STRIKE]. Unnecessary. It's only evening in certain time zones. This forum has a worldwide membership.
Do the phrases If you were to come.../were you to come... mean if you happen to come?
Yes, they do.

Welcome to the forum, ronao.:-D

Yes, they do.

Thank you very much! How can I start a post? Saying only Hi? or is it too informal?

You don't need a greeting. You can start with your question. "Does the sentence ..."
Also, many people here don't like "Thanks in advance". To thank someone (after they've helped you), click on the "Thank" button; don't write a new post just to thank someone.

As Raymott said, just go ahead and ask your question like most of the other posters do.

We haven't time for formality here.:-D

Is 'others' in post#5 a pronoun?

Hi, OD.

Well, I'm sure he meant 'the other posters'.
It's just a small typo.

:)

Ronao, there is no need to write a new post just to say "Thank you". It makes us think there is new information or a follow-up question and we spend time opening the thread. Simply click on the "Thank" button at the bottom left-hand corner of any post you find helpful. It saves everybody's time.
