Dear Mr.X,

Re: Application of ATM Card

I have opened an account with your bank recently and would like to apply for an ATM Card. My account no is xxxx. I shall be grateful, if you could inform me the procedure to apply for the card. I would also like to know the duration to obtain the card, once applied.

Awaiting a favorable response from you.

Yours sincerely,
Muktha Naive

With respect, the original letter's "apply for an ATM card" was better. It is clear and to the point.

"My account no is xxxx."

Wouldn't "number" better?

"I shall be grateful, if you could inform me the procedure to apply for the card."

Would it be better to say "I would be grateful if you could tell me what I should do to apply for an ATM card"?

Would it be better to say "I would be grateful if you could tell me what I should do to apply for an ATM card"?

'Shall' is fine. It is widely used and considered polite in India.

"I shall be grateful, if you could inform me the procedure to apply for the card."

inform + someone + something
Is this acceptable?

'N°' is the widely accepted abbreviation.

Isn't No. correct?

[C] (abbr. No.) (symb #) used before a figure to show the position of sth in a series: They live at number 26.

The song reached number 5 in the charts.

Yes it's correct too.

Are there any errors?
