I'm looking for a literary way of saying this: There was a glass on her piano.

I thought about using nestle:

A glass nestled on her piano.

But something tells me it's wrong.

What are some other options?

A glass rested on her piano.
She [had] rested a glass on her piano.

"nestled" doesn't work.

Can I also use "sit"?

A glass sat on her piano.
