Have I made any mistakes?

A quiet, picturesque village was a scene of an unusual incident. After a quarrel with his wife in the early hours of the morning, a man set fire to his car and then hanged himself from a beech in his garden. Fortunately, he was saved by his neighbour, who was walking his dog. The rescuer, who is also an avid hunter and always carries a knife when outdoors, had the presence of mind to cut the rope before it was too late. Later, it came out that the quarrel had been about Kellog's Corn Flakes, which the man had forgotten to buy when he was in the supermarket the previous day. The couple, who are in their 70s, have decided to stay together despite their argument. After hearing about the incident, their neighbours got together and bought them about 50 packets of Kellog's, which will certainly last for a couple of years.
