I am not sure if my sentences are grammatically correct. It is the second sentence that causes me the problem. It my ear it does not sound natural. Would you please correct my mistakes?

About an hour before the party started, Anna was fully dressed. She did not dare to sit down because she believed her clothes would be wrinkled.

They are grammatically correct. The first sentence might sound more natural like this: Anna was fully dressed about an hour before the party started. In the second sentence, I suggest ...would get wrinkled.

You should have said "To my ear, it does not sound natural".

I prefer 'was reluctant to' to 'did not dare to'.

They're actually not the same thing.
"Was reluctant to" indicates hesitation.
"Did not dare to" indicates strong aversion.

I know that. I thought "dare" is too strong a word to say one wouldn't sit down to avoid the clothes being crumpled.
