Hello,

I have to analyze this quote below:

"The highest life is probably to be reached, not by such imitation of the life of Christ as Count Tolstoi gives us, but, while animated by Christ’s spirit, by recognizing the changed conditions of this age, and adopting modes of expressing this spirit suitable to be changed conditions under which we live; still laboring for the good of our fellows, which was the essence of his life and teaching, but laboring in a different manner".

I just want to know if it's a compound-complex sentence. What are the dependent and independent clauses in this sentence if it is one? Furthermore, what is the author attempting to convey in this sentence?

Thank you in advance

This sounds like homework, which we can't help you with.

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

Please note my corrections above. You said "I have to analyse this sentence". Why do you have to analyse it? When is your homework assignment due?

Also, you must provide the source and author of any text you quote if you didn't write it yourself.
