Lili came up with a precise and detailed plan to move everyone's stuff, one that allowed the task to be completed more quickly. They began when the asteroids were cautiously determined by Gan, to be about eight weeks away, moving non-essential items first. However, many older citizens chose to move everything in one go, including themselves, preferring not to be rushed later.
The Elders, being part of the older citizenry, followed suit, except for Xiaohua, who remained in charge at the village. Gan was nominated Honorary Elder, to help Xiaohua, the head Elder, who was staying behind, and Xiaohua stayed behind only to add her authority to any decisions Gan made. There were always a few that could argue the handle off of a teapot, but despite her diminutive size, people rarely argued with Xiaohua and won; she could argue a handle right back on to its teapot.
One day, with Lanhua’s assistance, Gan was moving some things to the cave when he began to notice an occasional soft giggle coming from his daughter. Gan then noticed that a young man was following not far behind and was swapping smiles with his daughter when she looked back. Gan decided to say nothing but with some amusement, kept a side-glancing eye on the situation.
