1. He was late for school this morning.
2. He was late to school this morning.
3. He went to school late this morning.
4. He got to school late this morning.
Are the above sentences all acceptable to native speakers?

Numbers 1, 3, and 4 are fine and mean the same thing. Don't use 2.

1 and 4 mean the same as each other.
3 means something else.

Can you work out the difference?

#1 and #4 both mean that he arrived at school late this morning.
Does #3 mean that he left for school late this morning?
