I thought the word 'goods' is plural. If so, wouldn't 'are' there more appropriate?

On second thought, the sentence looks natural to me because in Russian the predicate would be singular with 'much more goods', while with just 'goods' (without 'much more') it's plural. I don't know how to explain this peculiarity in my mother tongue though...

The word "goods" is indeed plural.

I don't think it's helpful to compare English to Russian, but I could be wrong.

It should be:

Christmas is coming and many more goods are being displayed in.

We use "many" with "goods" and "much" with non-count nouns like "work", as in There is much work to be done, and "time", as in I don't have much time.

"Goods" is a plural-only noun. It contains the plural suffix "s", but it cannot be dropped to form a singular, and it cannot be counted.
