1-For such an important event, the number of journalists present was pretty small.
2-For such an important event, a small number of journalists showed up.
I think both these sentences are correct, but do they mean exactly the same?
I think 1 means:
A-Considering that it was such an important event, the number of journalists present was pretty small.
(The "for" is the one we have in "He looks young for his age.")
I think 2 means:
B-A small number of journalists showed up for such an important event.
(The "for" is the one we have in "I came here for you.")
Would you say I am right?
Gratefully,
Navi.
