[Grammar] Go easy on the salt

Hi Teachers

I read an article and there was the following passage.
"Go easy on the salt". In this passage, Is it possible to say like "go easy on Salt(without The) ?
If not, Why ?

Do you have a link to it? In future, please cite properly the source of any text you quote and provide a link if possible.

"Go easy on the salt". In this [STRIKE]passage, Is[/STRIKE] sentence, is it possible to say [STRIKE]like[/STRIKE] "go easy on salt (without "the")?
If not, why?
Generally speaking "the" is needed, because you are talking about a particular thing, even if that thing is implied (not explicitly mentioned).
In your sentence, the reference is to the salt used in, for example, cooking or pickling something.
