[Grammar] Going to + Verb

Hi

I am doing a TEFL course and I am stuck.

I need to come up with some ideas on how to teach the grammatical structure of

going to + verb

Although I understand, I am just struggling for ideas on how to teach this is a lesson.

Are you referring to the semi-auxiliary be going to? going to + V is another kettle of fish.

It is just the future tense

going to + Verb

eg. going to eat

For the future simple,

verb 'be' + going to + base verb or will + base verb

How about setting up a fortune telling role play?

Cut up some clue cards with things like: become homeless, start a new job, holiday, new baby, get arrested, get divorced, etc, etc.

then the fortune teller will read the student's fortune using the cards as prompts.

You are going to get pregnant.
You are going to start a new job.
You will receive some good news.
Etc, etc

It is used just like simple future.
