Hello, have you any clue of what 'grand folk' is? The context is simple, a bastard tells a story of her life. She wasn't raised by her own mother but by a woman who was paid to do so and she says that the 'babysitter' hinted her many times that 'her people were grand folk'.
I figured it out that it means that her family was rich but does it tell anything more? Can folk reffer to their whereabouts (I mean if they were from the countryside or from the town)... I know that folk suggests they're from the countryside or something but... Is it any specific social class or anything like that?
Thanks!
