Hello to all,

Is it correct to use "magnum opus" like this?

Hamlet is the magnum opus of Shakespeare.

Can it also be used to talk about songs and movies?

Raging Bull is the magnum opus of Martin Scorsese.

Quizas is the magnum opus of Pavaratti.

And which one is better?

1-
Raging Bull is the magnum opus of Martin Scorsese.

2-Raging Bull is Martin Scorsese's magnum opus.

I think you can say it about movies.

I did some searching and somewhere it was said Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is Tarantino's magnum opus.
Although I have to say it is an extremely awful and boring movie. Do not waste time on it!

The use of "magnum opus" is OK but in each of your examples I'd use the possessive and change the word order. For example, "Hamlet is Shakespeare's magnum opus".

I'd use Shakespeare's magnum opus too. (And I think Macbeth is better.)
