Please tell me if my understanding is correct.
1. He had been ill for two days when he got home. He still didn’t feel well.
It means the state of being ill lasted for two days until he got home. The past perfect has nothing to do with the present.

2. He has been ill for two days since he got home. He still doesn’t feel well.
It means he got sick when he got home two days ago, and he is still sick now. The present perfect has something to do with the present.
