Hello.

If I am asking about my friend how his relative's birthday party went can I use either of these sentences? Are they all correct?
1. 'How was the birthday party celebration?'
2. 'How was the birthday party?'
3. 'How was the celebration?'
4. 'How was the hangout?'
5. 'How did the birthday party (celebration) go?'
6. 'How did the celebration go?'

I would have no problem with any of your examples, but I can understand why Rover and others might consider "party" and "celebration" in the same reference as redundant. I would consider "birthday party" as a singular unit/event and commonly used in that way. But just one comment on the use of "hangout" that it might not necessarily be used in reference to a party.

How was your birthday party?
How did your birthday party go?
But what's wrong with How did the celebration go? How was the celebration? How was the hangout? If the person I am asking this question knows what I am talking about.

If you mean 'birthday party', say birthday party. Why wouldn't you?

In any language, we should always try to say exactly what we mean.

Don't say the if you mean your.
Don't say celebration if you mean birthday party.

It's true that a birthday party is a kind of celebration, but it isn't a 'hangout'. This word has a different meaning/use.
