A student has finished a presentation.

Teacher: You did better this time.
Student: I did a lot of preparation this time.

Should I say “I did” or “I’ve done”?

Use "I did" if the presentation is finished. Use "I've done" if you have yet to deliver the presentation.

I would probably say that I practiced more if that's what I did.
