I'd love to join you guys if I'm around the area, however, I won't know if I'm going to be in New York in December until towards the end of Nov or early Dec. Is there an RSVP date for the reception?

Can someone please take a look at this sentence and see if it's well written and grammatical?

How is towards and around used incorrectly in the sentence?

I chose "in" because it is more precise than "around", at least for me. I saw no reason for "until towards". "Until" works fine by itself.

So, they're not incorrect, but you just made it sound more natural.
