[Grammar] Many people refer to February 3, 1959, as.....

The above sentence is from one of my grammar books and I think it has an error in it.

I mean, there's no need to put 'to' after 'refer' since it is followed 'as'.


Am I right?

Sorry - no. The way they refer to it is 'The Day the Music Died' => They ref to it as 'The Day the Music Died'. ;-)
