Hey everyone,

I have a question concerning North or Northern, like,

The city of X is located in North/Northern Ontario/Canada.

Which one is correct? If only one is correct, then any difference?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, Wang.

(1) Hopefully, a Canadian will soon answer you.

(2) I checked the Web, and it seems that the "correct" answer

is Northern Ontario.

(a) It seems to qualify as a "recognized area" -- such as:

Southern California. (We would never say South California.)

***** Thank you for your question *****

Thanks, my dear friends!

There is no correct or incorrect names, it's a matter of what has been recognized or accepted by the people as Parser said. There is North Carolina and North Dakota in the US, Northern Territories and Southern Alps Down Under.
