When you refer to the operating hours of a facility, which do you think is more commonly used?
An American friend of mine says "open hours" is more correct than "opening hours" because the latter may sound like the time(s) when a facility opens and starts operating.
However, I have found several examples of "opening hours" used to refer to the time range of operations. The following is from the website of the British Museum.
Our opening hours are daily, 10.00–17.00 ( Fridays: 20.30)
Last entry: 16.00 (Fridays: 19.30)
Do you agree with my friend?
