Although no consensus was made on the benefit side, many clinical studies adopted the therapy in the treatment of liver cancer until 2001.

Why don't you try first and we will comment on your attempt? I think you've been around the forum long enough to realise that that's how it works. :-D

Well, thanks for the suggestion.
My try:

Though no consensus was made on the benefit, many clinical studies adopted the therapy to treat liver cancer until 2001.

PS. I suspect that the use of "to treat" is somewhat tilted while "in the treatment of" sounds more natural.

Your comment will be appreciated.

NOT A TEACHER

You usually "reach" a consensus (or arrive at a consensus). See:

COLLOCATIONS verbs reach a consensus ( also arrive at a consensus ) The committee found that it was unable to reach a consensus.

Thank you.
A lot of native English speakers used to use "consensus was made." Though not perfect, it is not wrong.
