Hello people,

I'm an English learner from Japan.
I've just come to wonder if there's a certain phrase for when credit card companies check their customer's (applicants or card holders) financial state.
If you know a common phrase that everyone recognises or maybe a simple website about the credit card, please let me know.
It's not that I work for a bank or anything. I would just like to have a basic idea how the terminology works in English.

Thanks in advance.

That's called a 'credit check'. They check your credit (status). They perform/do a credit check on you.
It sounds simple, but that's the term used.

@ Raymott

Thanks for your quick response.

I does sound simple but makes a lot of sense.
I would've wasted another couple of days straggling.

Thanks again. I feel clear now.

You can also run a credit check.

Thanks for your response.
It's good to know another variation so I won't be puzzled when encountered.
