[Grammar] Questions about using "prefer"

Hi, here are two questions that confuse me:

1. Lily prefers [A. walking/B. to walk] to taking the bus.
2. Lily prefers [A. walking/B. to walk] than to jog for exercise.


For the 1st sentence, I thought only a V-ing form would be parallel with "taking."
As for the 2nd one, out of the same reason as the prior sentence, I only chose B...
But the answer for both questions are A and B...Why do the infinitive and gerund form fit in both sentences?
Please help.:)

A is correct for #1.
Neither works for #2. Lily prefers to walk rather than to jog.
