I kept wearing my crazy shoes and found myself sorry to outgrow them. In the years that followed, I discovered I could wear any damn thing I pleased. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but I never felt like I had to apologize or hide. I don't know if there's any great moral here, but I do know that I have a lot of crazy shoes and I love them, and raising an eyebrow has yet to raise a welt.
