Hello everybody!

Although I am not a believer in physical abuse, I would like to ask you what "woman on the dance floor slapped you round the face" in the below-mentioned sentence means.

Did he indeed?! Well, after that woman on the dance floor slapped you round the face and you left... the judges gave out another award.

I know what "to slap someone in/across the face" means. Does "to slap someone round the face" have similar meaning?

Thank you.

Re: sleep somebody round the faace

That should be 'round the face, with an apostrophe, because it's a contraction of around.

'Round is colloquial in that sentence, as upside would also be.

He that does something always makes mistakes. He that does not do anything never makes mistakes.

I knew that AmE used "upside the head" but I've never stumbled across "upside the face".

Although I am not a believer in physical abuse ...
Nor are a lot of people. That's why a threat is softened to "He needs to be slapped about the face with a wet fish!"
