I want to say most butterflies in a region are of a color. Does this work?

Unlike most butterflies I see in this city, which are dark purple, the butterflies in my hometown are of an amber-ish brown color.

I feel like the sentence I've written is a bit clunky. How can I make it better?

My suggested changes are above. Note that you haven't talked about butterflies in a region at all. You've mentioned a city and your hometown.
