This is not my homework.

Please read this sentence and tell me if the sentence is correct or not.

His wife received a gunshot and is said to be progressing in the Civil Hospital.

I believe that hospital, college, school, church etc., when used in the sense of their original purpose, do not take articles. But in the above sentence , "the" is used in a literary source. Is the sentence correct?

Is "Civil Hospital" the name of the hospital?
An article is required if it is a common noun e.g. children's hospital.
An article is not required if it is a proper noun i.e. name of a hospital.

"His wife received a gunshot wound and is said to be progressing in the Civil Hospital." I wouldn't use "progressing" there. Try "recovering".

I think if the "c" of civil hospital is in capital, it is a name of the hospital and if the "c" is not capital then it is a common noun. Am I right?
