What does the following sentence mean?
The following sentence is about Dell's personnel issue. It is explaining why they had to select the Dell guy for the new CEO of the combined company after Dell acquired EMC.
But I don't understand why the Dell guy is more qualified.
"But the hard truth was that the Dell guy, being newly appointed, was in a position to grow up in a role where all he knew was the combined organization, and thus could give the merged companies a perspective that wasn’t steeped in one legacy company or another."
