Hello.
Is it correct to say "Were I under the same circumstances, I would..."? (I'm aware of the formal style).

"Were I ..." is OK. "under the same circumstances" is not correct. It should be "in the same circumstances".

As a related point—sometimes you can use use 'under circumstances', but not in this sentence. The basic difference can be simply expressed as follows:


  • something happens under (certain) circumstances
  • something is in (certain) circumstances
The sentence here should use pattern 1.
