Found in an article about aspirating smoke detectors, the whole sentence is "To make sure the extinguishing is triggered at a higher obscuration level, a separate parameter set is available for this purpose."

Many thanks in advance.

If a "higher obscuration level" exists the air is more clouded by smoke.

Obscuration is the process of reducing visibility through air by the built-up of particles such as smoke. It follows that the greater the intensity of smoke, the higher the obscuration level.
The sensitivity of the smoke detector to trigger the alarm in the event of a fire can be adjusted to the smoke level or obscuration level.
