Wish I had known vs wish i knew

Is it correct to say,

1.) I wish I knew then what I know now.

I think this is also acceptable, but it would be better to use "had known". However, I always hear people saying the following as well.​


2.) I wish you told me earlier.
3.) I wish you asked him yourself.

Is it appropriate to use simple past as well?
