I don't think "How" could be used correctly there. I may be wrong, but it just sounds so horribly incorrect.

RP would use only 'what'. But although I haven't heard it used there could be some dialects which use this variant. It always tickles my buttons when I hear a structure like this. Does anyone say 'How was it like'?
