    Default premier/prime minister

    Hi

Is there any difference between "premier" and "prime minister"? Is it exactly the same?

There is no difference in meaning but in use. The word ‘premier’ means the head of the cabinet where first minister or the prime minister is called the premier. So a premier's position is usually the same as that of a prime minister. However, there is deviation. The chiefs of government of the provinces of Canada as well as in Australia are called premiers but the head of the country is called Prime minister; as the premier of New south Wales,(a province) the Australian prime minister . I think where there is parliamentary democracy such as Great Britain or India, the chief of the cabinet or ministry is called the Prime minister, as: the British prime minister, the Indian prime minister
In India we do not use the term ‘premier’ to address the chief or leader of the country.

That's right, but we call our provinces "states".
