I hope you can help
I am trying to assist my granddaughter who is in year 1 and , although I did not think I had forgotten my grammar rules, it seems I have.
In the sentence : The wind is blowing. Which is the verb? I was under the impression that the verb was is and blowing was an adverb. Please assist.
Thank you.

"blowing" is not an adverb.
"is blowing" is a present continuous tense verb.
